On May 5th TESCO hosted a news conference and ribbon cutting to unveil the new University of Toledo Mobile Medical Clinic. The mobile medical unit, built by TESCO, was provided through funding by the Health and Resources Services Administration Community Project Fund and secured by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. Congresswoman Kaptur was the keynote speaker joined by University of Toledo President Dr. Gregory Postel and CEO of TESCO Bud Graham. Others in attendance were UTMC President Rick Swaine and other leaders from UTMC, former CEO Noel Graham Sr., representatives from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and TESCO employees who worked on the mobile clinic.
According to a release from the University of Toledo the bus will enable UTMC to expand its reach and provide preventative health screenings to underserved communities throughout Northwest Ohio. UTMC medical staff onboard will be able to treat and diagnose basic care issues such as preventative health screenings, offering blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and lead blood tests. Their focus will be on areas of high poverty and rural areas where access to healthcare is limited. The clinic will serve the 9th Congressional District, which centers on Toledo and stretches west of the Indiana line and east of Vermillion.
TESCO was honored to host this event and appreciates the support of Congresswoman Kaptur and the University of Toledo!
